President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at the White House on Monday, reaffirming their shared vision for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza under the guise of “resettlement,” while the U.S. continues to bankroll Israel’s brutal military campaign. The two leaders casually dismissed international law, suggesting that Palestinian civilians displaced by Israel’s bombardment could simply be absorbed by unspecified “other countries”—a plan that human rights groups have condemned as a blueprint for mass expulsion.
Trump, who has long championed extreme anti-Palestinian policies, openly proposed U.S. control over Gaza, calling it an “incredible piece of important real estate” and suggesting that American forces could occupy the besieged enclave. “Having a peace force like the United States there, controlling and owning the Gaza Strip, would be a good thing,” he said, framing ethnic displacement as an act of benevolence. Netanyahu echoed the rhetoric, asserting that Palestinians should have the “freedom” to leave Gaza—a blatant euphemism for forced displacement.
Netanyahu claimed Palestinians would be given the “choice” to leave Gaza, but human rights organizations and Palestinian leaders have repeatedly warned that Israel’s relentless bombing, siege, and land seizures amount to coercion. Since March, Israel’s military has intensified its assault, killing thousands, tightening its blockade to starve civilians, and seizing more than half of Gaza’s territory in what legal experts describe as settler-colonial expansion.
Trump and Netanyahu’s statements contradict the reality on the ground, where Israeli forces have systematically destroyed homes, hospitals, and refugee camps, rendering Gaza uninhabitable.
Despite global condemnation, Israel continues to enjoy unconditional U.S. support. The White House has greenlit billions in military aid while deflecting accountability for war crimes. Trump’s suggestion that other nations will absorb displaced Palestinians further highlights the racist logic underpinning U.S.-Israel policy: that Palestinians are a problem to be dispersed rather than a people with rights.
Beyond Gaza, the two leaders discussed Iran, tariffs, and regional security, though their positions revealed deep contradictions. Trump floated diplomatic talks with Tehran, undercutting Netanyahu’s push for military confrontation. Yet on Gaza, they remained aligned—both refusing to endorse a ceasefire while paying lip service to hostage releases.
Netanyahu’s far-right coalition has repeatedly sabotaged truce deals, prioritizing territorial conquest over human life. Meanwhile, Trump, despite claiming he wants the war to end, fuels the bloodshed by enabling Israel’s military escalation. His administration has dismissed ceasefire efforts, instead endorsing strategies that accelerate displacement under the pretense of “security.”
Human rights groups warn that Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe is a direct result of this political complicity. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have labeled Israel’s regime as apartheid, citing its systematic oppression of Palestinians. Yet U.S. officials continue to parrot Israeli propaganda, framing genocidal violence as “self-defense.”
As the White House rolls out the red carpet for Netanyahu, Palestinian voices remain erased from the conversation. No Palestinian leaders were consulted on the so-called “resettlement” plan, underscoring its colonial nature. With Gaza’s death toll mounting and famine spreading, the U.S. and Israel are normalizing mass expulsion as a diplomatic “solution.”
Monday’s meeting was a grotesque display of power—two leaders casually plotting ethnic cleansing while the world watches in silence. The U.S. isn’t just enabling Israel’s genocide; it’s actively participating by funding the bombs, blocking UN ceasefires, and now legitimizing forced displacement. As Palestinians cling to survival under bombardment, the so-called “freedom zone” Trump and Netanyahu envision is nothing more than a euphemism for annihilation.
